Is Sparkle a bank?
Yes, Sparkle is a bank and then more.
Licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), we are what most people would refer to as a digital bank.
We offer financial, lifestyle and business support services to Nigerians across the globe.
How do I get a Sparkle account?
It's really easy!
Just download the Sparkle app on either iOS or Android app store.
Sign up is super simple as you need just your BVN, phone number and email address only…
Bye-bye to exhaustive documents.
Is my money safe with Sparkle?
Yes, your money is safe with Sparkle as we have taken extra measures to ensure that we are better at preventing fraud and stopping account takeovers.
That’s not all. We also have security features that enable you to freeze and unfreeze your debit card from the Sparkle app. You can also turn on and off features like contactless, e-commerce and swipe payments.
There is also insurance cover on your deposits by Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
Talk about security just how you want it!
What if I live outside Nigeria, can I open a Sparkle account?
Sparkle is inclusive therefore the diaspora community can be a part the Sparkle tribe.
Simply download the Sparkle app from Google Play or iOS App Store to get started (all you need is your BVN, email and phone number).
How old do I need to be to open a Sparkle account?
Currently, to open a Sparkle account, you must be 18 years or older.
However, we are working on getting the younger ones onboard the Sparkle train.

Do you offer joint accounts?
Currently, you cannot open a Sparkle joint account.
But we co-create with our tribe and consistently come up with solutions that make life super simple for them.

Why can't I log in to my Sparkle account?
If you already have an account with Sparkle and have tried to log in but cannot, please delete and reinstall the Sparkle app.
Log in afresh using the email address you originally signed up with and your account should be as good as new.
How do I make complaint?
Using the Sparkle app is easy and straightforward so we expect that you would not have any problems whatsoever.

Can I get my kids on Sparkle?
We currently do not have any solutions for kids on Sparkle but we are working on changing this.

What is BVN?
Think of your Bank Verification Number as an 11 digit social security number used to identify you across all banks in Nigeria
Why do you need my BVN?
We need your BVN to make sure that it’s you. BVN also helps prevent identity theft
How can I check my BVN?
Just dial *565*0# from your registered mobile number to check your BVN
What is the split transaction feature?
This allows you to share the cost of any payment with any of your contacts on Sparkle. You can choose to split the transaction equally across as many contacts as you want.
Or if someone had more slices of the pizza, our split transaction feature allows you to manually edit.
How can I split a transaction?
To split a transaction, simply:
- Tap the bill in your transaction log.
- Scroll down to “Split this Transaction"
- Select the Sparkle “contacts” you would like to split the transaction with
- Our default setting is to split the transaction equally, however, you can manually edit based on the amount each person owes
- Click “Send Request” and we will send your contact(s) a request for payment
What do I need to apply for a Sparkle Visa Card?
A Sparkle account and the latest version of the Sparkle app.
What type of card can I get on Sparkle? MasterCard or Visa?
Our cards are Visa cards. You have the freedom to get physical and/or virtual cards
What is the difference between the Sparkle physical and virtual cards?
Here are some of the differences between the Sparkle physical and virtual card:
- Security: Physical cards come with 3D secure, a two-factor authentication. This means that you will need an OTP to complete your transactions when you use a physical card. For virtual cards, it comes with a dynamic CVV2 which means that you get a new CVV for every transaction
- Cost: Virtual cards are more affordable than the physical cards as your first virtual card is free while the subsequent virtual cards cost NGN 500.
- Cash Withdrawal: You can withdraw cash from ATMs with your physical card. You cannot do this with your virtual card.
- Transactions at POS Terminals: If you frequent shopping malls or supermarkets and don’t want to carry cash, you will need a physical card as you can’t use your virtual card on POS terminals.
How many Cards can I order?
Individuals can request for up to five (5) virtual cards and three (3) physical cards while businesses can request for up to five (5) virtual cards and five (5)) physical cards.
Do you offer a Virtual Card?
Yes we do and getting your first virtual card is FREE!
What is the cost of an additional Virtual card?
Your first virtual card if FREE but you will have to pay NGN 500 for each subsequent virtual card.
How much is a Sparkle Physical card?
The physical card costs NGN 1,000* with a delivery charge of NGN 500 only.
How long will it take to get my Sparkle physical card?
It takes three (3) working days to have your card delivered to your doorstep.
How do I activate my card?
The Sparkle Visa Card activates itself once it is created but you should wait for at least one hour before you use your card.
I lost my Sparkle Visa Card, what do I do?
If you've lost your card, go into your Sparkle app and block or deactivate your card immediately. Remember, deactivating your card means you will no longer be able to use that card even if you recover it.
Can I customize my Sparkle Visa Card?
You cannot customize your Sparkle Visa Card at the moment but you will be able to do so soon.
Do you deliver the Sparkle Visa Card to anywhere in Nigeria?
Unfortunately, we only deliver within Lagos at the moment. If you live outside Lagos, why not give the Virtual Card a try.
Alternatively, you can have your card delivered to a friend or family member who stays in Lagos. if you have an acquaintance or family in Lagos, you can ask that we deliver to their address for you.
I want a Sparkle Virtual card, how do I get one?
To get a Sparkle Virtual Card,
- Go into your Sparkle app
- Tap on cards
- Tap on ‘get a Sparkle card’
- Select virtual card
- Tap on ‘continue’ and your virtual will be ready in seconds.
Can I use my Sparkle Visa Card for online payments?
Yes, you can use your Sparkle Visa Card for
- Online payments (local payments only)
- In-store payments (physical cards only)
- ATM withdrawals (physical cards only. Virtual coming soon)
- Contactless payments (physical cards only)
Can I use my Sparkle Visa Card for international transactions?
Unfortunately, you cannot use your Sparkle Visa Card for international transactions.
Where can I see my card transactions?
To see your card transactions,
- Go into the Sparkle app
- Tap on cards
- Select the card you want
- Tap on ‘card transactions’
What do I do if I notice unauthorized charges on my Sparkle card?
If you notice any unauthorized transaction on your card, quickly go into the app and block your card then send us an email at support@sparkle.ng immediately. You can also chat Indy in the Sparkle app or let us know via our DM on social media.
Can I cancel my card request?
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to cancel your request for a card once it’s been processed.
How do I freeze/block my Sparkle card?
To block your card,
- Go into the Sparkle app
- Tap on cards
- Select the card you want to block
- Tap on ‘Block Card’
How do I unfreeze/unblock my Sparkle card?
To unblock your card,
- Go into the Sparkle app
- Tap on cards
- Select the card you want to block
- Tap on ‘Unblock Card’
How do I deactivate my Sparkle card?
To deactivate your card,
- Go into the Sparkle app
- Tap on cards
- Select the card you want to deactivate
- Tap on ‘Block Card’
- Then tap on ‘Deactivate Card’
What is my card transaction limit for ATM, POS, and Web?
It is entirely up to you on how much you want to spend on the web and POS terminals but you have a card transaction limit of N150,000 via the ATM.
Will I be charged for withdrawals at other bank ATMs?
Your first three (3) withdrawals at any ATM is free. However, you will pay the standard of fee of N35 only from your fourth withdrawal.
How do I access my card information in the Sparkle app?
To access your card information,
- Go into the Sparkle app
- Tap on cards
- Select ‘card information’
- Input your Sparkle pin and your card information will be displayed
How do I set my card transaction limit?
To set your transaction limit,
- Go into the Sparkle app
- Tap on cards
- Select ‘transaction limit’
- Input amount and select frequency
- Tap on update and you are good to go
How can I change my card PIN?
To change your card PIN,
- Go into the Sparkle app
- Tap on cards
- Select the card you want to block
- Select ‘change pin’. It's straightforward from there.
It’s been 3 business days and I haven’t received my physical card.
Once your card has been shipped, you will receive an SMS containing a tracking ID that you can use to monitor the delivery status of your Sparkle card at any given time.
What is the DCVV2 on the Virtual Card and how does it work?
The DCVV2 (Dynamic Card Verification Value 2) is a randomly generated set of three (3) numbers that change automatically after a predetermined amount of time. This significantly reduces the potential for fraud to occur should your card be compromised.
What is the duration of my Virtual Card?
The duration of your virtual card is three (3) years.
Are all my cards tied to my Sparkle Account?
Yes, all your cards are tied to your Sparkle Account.
How can I make sure that the people I give my cards to don’t finish my money?
You can ensure this doesn’t happen by setting a transaction limit on your physical or virtual card.
How can i monitor transactions on cards i have assigned to others?
To monitor your card transactions,
- Go into the Sparkle app
- Tap on cards
- Select the card you want to monitor and
- Tap on ‘card transactions’
The CVV on my virtual card keeps changing, why?
The CVV on your virtual card keeps changing to protect you and reduce the potential for fraud on internet transactions.
